How this is calculated
Sod needed = length × width × (1 + waste ÷ 100).
Rolls = total square feet ÷ roll size, rounded up. Pallet coverage varies a lot between suppliers, so both the roll and pallet sizes are editable — use the numbers your sod farm quotes you.
Common questions
How much waste should I add?
5–10% covers most rectangular lawns. Go higher if your yard has lots of curves, trees or narrow strips, since every cut wastes some sod.
How big is a roll of sod?
It depends on the supplier. Many cut rolls around 10 square feet, but sizes differ, so confirm with your sod farm before ordering. The roll size in this calculator is editable for that reason.
How much does a pallet cover?
Also supplier-dependent — commonly somewhere in the 400–500 square foot range, but check. Enter your supplier's number for an accurate pallet count.
Should I order the exact amount?
Order at least your waste-adjusted total. Running short mid-install is worse than having a little extra, because sod dries out quickly and a second delivery may not match.
